From 1 July 2025, the national minimum wage is $24.10 per hour or $915.80 per week for a full-time adult (38 hours), following a 3.75% increase. Casual employees receive a 25% loading making the minimum casual rate $30.13/hr. Most modern awards set higher minimum rates.

Casual loading is 25% on top of the ordinary base rate, compensating casuals for no paid leave or guaranteed hours. From 1 July 2025: $24.10 × 1.25 = $30.13/hr minimum. Most awards apply this loading to penalty rates as well, though the calculation method varies.
Sunday rates vary by award — Hospitality 1.5×, Retail 1.5×, Nurses 1.75×, Building 2.0×, Clerks 2.0×. Public holiday rates are typically 2.25×–2.5× the base rate. Use the full pay calculator for exact rates for your award.
Junior rates apply to employees under 21 as a percentage of the adult award rate:
- 16 years — 50%
- 17 years — 60%
- 18 years — 70%
- 19 years — 80%
- 20 years — 90%
- 21+ — 100% (full adult rate)
Note: not all awards apply junior rates — some pay full adult rates regardless of age.
The Superannuation Guarantee rate is 12% from 1 July 2025 and remains at 12% for all future years. Employers pay this on top of ordinary time earnings. Check the ATO website for eligibility thresholds.
New rates take effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July each year following the Annual Wage Review. The 2025–26 rates reflect a 3.75% increase. Some awards may have additional mid-year adjustments.
